Healthy and Simple Poppyseed Dressing?
First, this recipe is so easy, you can stop buying yours at the store. Second, so many poppyseed dressing recipes have corn syrup or other refined sweeteners. This recipe uses healthy honey, and if you make your own mayonnaise, it’s a source of healthy fats as well. You won’t miss the sugar. Though I thought I might, but I love it made with honey! I use Daisy sour cream, and though it’s a commercial source of dairy and not at the top of my healthy foods list, it’s one of my compromise items. Daisy sour cream is simple cultured cream and nothing else.
Poppyseed Dressing Recipe
It’s this easy. Grate your onion. Put all of the ingredients in a bowl, and whisk. That’s it. The end.
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 teaspoon grated onion
- 1-2 teaspoons poppyseeds (or to taste)
- ¼ cup honey
- 1-2 tablespoons raw apple cider vinegar
- 1-2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
- ½-1 teaspoon salt
- Combine all ingredients. Taste. Adjust honey and vinegar as needed for it to have the sweet to tangy balance that you like. I like mine a little more tangy. You may prefer it sweeter.
When making this recipe, taste it, and decide if you need more tang from vinegar, more sweet from honey. To mayonnaisy? Add a bit more sour cream. Too thick? Add a little milk or water to thin. See? Make it your own!
